Online Resources

The following is a list of resources that are freely available to everyone on the internet. Feel free to copy/paste any of the resources onto your website for your patrons to use.


FamilySearch is an international, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping all people discover their family story. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides FamilySearch free of charge to everyone, regardless of tradition, culture, or religious affiliation. Their collections of billions of records help millions of people around the world discover their heritage and connect with family members.

Cyndi’s List
Cyndi's List has been a trusted genealogy research site for more than 20 years. Cyndi's List is free for everyone to use and it is meant to be your starting point when researching online. It is a comprehensive, categorized & cross-referenced list of links that point you to genealogical research sites online.

Their mission is to grow an accurate single family tree that connects us all and is freely available to us all. Their tree includes 25,452,131 profiles (7,254,885 with DNA test connections) edited by 762,971 genealogists from around the world.


Course Hero
Course Hero has partnered with educators and subject matter experts to create the best free study guides on the internet. Core topics are broken down into digestible sections filled with short videos, detailed infographics, vocabulary words, reading recommendations, and practice problems.

Academic Earth
Academic Earth provides a collection of free online college courses from the world’s top universities in a wide range of topics. They are also featuring an ongoing series of original video electives.

Annenberg Learner
Annenberg Learner provides access to professional development materials for educators. The resources are free, and include video-on-demand, live streaming video events, and other materials available for purchase. The site also provides access to the Annenberg Channel, a free satellite channel for schools, libraries, colleges, universities, and other public access channels.

Coursera is a website that partners with universities and organizations around the world. This brings a wide variety of topics and perspectives to one searchable database. Coursera is a powerful tool for free online education, and includes courses from many top universities, museums and trusts. This gives the site an extremely wide range of in-depth courses. Coursera is extremely useful if you’re looking to study many different topics, or want courses from different schools and groups.


Caselaw Access Project
The Caselaw Access Project (CAP) offers free access to all official, book-published US case law—every volume designated as an official report of decisions by a court within the United States through June 2018.

Offers free online legal content including case law from state and federal courts, case summaries, statutes, and legal news. It also offers a browsable, searchable database of US Supreme Court decisions since 1760. Browse Supreme Court opinions by year and US Reports volume number, or search by party name, case title, citation, full text, and docket number.

Everyday Health presents comprehensive information and practical tools to help people find ways to improve their health wellness. They provide up-to-date health news and curate a community of people and experts who share tips and advice on how to live a healthier life.

Centers for Disease Control
The website for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nation’s health protection agency. The website provides health information to help that protect our nation against expensive and dangerous health threats, and their response when threats arise.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and is the nation’s medical research agency making important discoveries that improve health and save lives. They feature health information and resources to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness for the public.

HealthLine gives access to health resources from health and wellness library and newsletters to apps, podcasts, and communities in an informative, easy to understand, and engaging way. Their dedicated team manages an extensive medical network of over 100 professionals covering more than 50 specialties, providing medical review, expert POVs, fact-checking, and clinical guidance. Healthline’s physicians, nurses, public health experts, and patient advocates help ensure that the information published is accurate, evidence-based, current, person-centric, and trustworthy.

Job Seeker’s Workshop
This online workshop provides free job search on how to explore careers, create a resume, and prepare for an interview. It also includes interactive exercises.

Job-Hunt provides free job search information, online job search tutorials, expert advice, and links to thousands of job search and career resources.

This site is excellent for conducting a job search and accessing career development information. It provides a resume builder and many different ways to find the right career fit for anyone.

mySkills my Future
mySkills my Future connects individuals to employment and training opportunities available at local One-Stop Career Centers. The website provides contact information for a range of local work-related services, including unemployment benefits, career development, and educational opportunities.

Small Businesses

IRS Small Business Portal
Has resources on small business and self-employed taxation, plus access to forms and publications, a video library, an event calendar and other online tools and products to help start and operate a personal business.

SCORE is an SBA resource partner, dedicated to entrepreneur education. It has over 10,000 volunteers in 300 chapters with years of business experience available to help small business owners through one-on-one counseling, business tools and training programs.

U.S. Small Business Administration
The SBA is a federal agency dedicated to small businesses by providing counseling, advocacy, and funding to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals. Their business guide and learning center helps owners start, manage, and grow their business through articles and online courses.

PowerHomeBiz is an online magazine that aims to provide quality information on how to start, run and manage a home-based business. They provide feature “how-to” articles; “how I did it” success stories, success tips, motivational articles, questions and answers, and other resources that will help visitors gain knowledge and succeed in their home businesses.

FranChoice provides a free franchise consulting service to individuals considering franchise ownership. Their franchise experts are willing and able to utilize their understanding of the franchise industry to carefully aid in a candidate's search for a franchise opportunity.

Women’s Business Enterprise National Council
WBENC provides assistance, education, and certification to women's business enterprises and government entities. They have in-class programming, events and networking opportunities for women-owned businesses, supplier diversity experts, government and corporate procurement professionals, and other industry and thought leaders throughout the U.S.
